Jake ‘The Sax’ Telford
Jake Telford is a saxophonist, flautist, and music producer, he has toured and performed on numerous stage, radio and television shows, from mainstream Pop, Soul, Jazz, Funk, to cutting edge underground dance music. He has written music prolifically for Club, Library, TV & Film.
Numerous performance and recording credits include work with:
Dodgy, Stereophonics, David Arnold, Jon Carter, Ayub Ogada, Demis Roussos, Blaze, Terry Reid, Stereo Mc’s, Good Lookin’ Records, BBE records, Ubiquity Records, Real World records, Wah Wah 45’s and many more.
As a keen advocate of dance & electronic music, Jake regularly performs with Dj’s, and was pioneering musician plus Dj duo’s back in the mid 90’s, playing over House, Garage, and Drum&Bass grooves. Subsequently he has been heard on radio stations such as Unknown, House, has played at countless warehouse raves, and club gigs, continuing his work and development within the genre to this day.
Currently Jake can be seen regularly at El Divino Belfast, or at his 8 year residency with production partner from Ok_Ma (DJ Young Lee) at the Bedroom bar in London Shoreditch, where the duo play Afro and Latin orientated House and Broken beats. Jake and Lee, as Ok_Ma, have performed at events as diverse as The World Econonic Forum in Davos, Miami beach parties, the Tate Modern, all the way to Ministry of Sound.
Jakes has held many residencies through his career, but his first and most memorable must be with Flipside at the Iceni, where as house band MD he worked with many world class guests including Jamiroquai, The Roots, Roachford, Beats International, and his favourite, the James Brown band. Jake also works as an educational practitioner with The New London Orchestra, and as a consultantStudio and Acoustics designer in venues and studios around the UK.
Having always worked in music, Jake is still a keen, adventurous player, and composer, who is constantly seeking new challenging areas to work within, and ideas to try out.As he sees it, ‘Music is life & life is Musical’, & ‘you can have your cake and eat it, you just have to choose a cake that you’ll love!’
